Terms of Service

1. The service

Record.so lets you record your screen and camera, host those recordings, and share them by link. The service is currently in beta: features may change, and Pro features are temporarily free for all members.

2. Accounts

You can record without an account (anonymous share links stop working after 24 hours; signing up later can bring those recordings into your account). An account requires a valid email address; you're responsible for what happens under your account and for keeping your password safe. You must be legally able to enter this agreement in your jurisdiction.

3. Your content

Your recordings are yours. We claim no ownership. You grant us only the technical license needed to store, process and deliver your recordings to the people you share them with. You're responsible for having the right to record and share whatever appears in your recordings, including other people's voices, screens and personal data.

4. Retention and deletion

Temporary recordings have an expiring share link (24 hours for anonymous recordings, 7 days for member recordings). After that the recording becomes inaccessible to everyone but you, unless you keep it permanently within your plan's limits. When you delete a recording yourself, deleted means deleted: the video file, its poster, comments and reactions are removed immediately and cannot be recovered.

5. Acceptable use

You may not use Record.so to:

  • record or share content that is illegal where you or your viewers are;
  • infringe others' intellectual property or privacy;
  • distribute malware, phishing or spam (including via workspace invites);
  • harass, exploit or harm anyone, especially minors;
  • probe, overload or disrupt the service.

We may remove content or suspend accounts that break these rules.

6. Plans

Free and Pro plans are described on the homepage. During the beta all members get Pro features at no cost, and beta members become founding members with a discount when paid plans launch. Limits (retention, permanent slots) may be adjusted with notice.

7. Disclaimers and liability

The service is provided as is, without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent allowed by law, we're not liable for indirect or consequential damages, or for loss of content. Keep local copies of recordings that matter (the recorder keeps a local copy in your browser until you delete it).

8. Termination

You can delete your account (and everything it owns) at any time from Settings. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

9. Changes

We may update these terms; material changes will be announced on the site. Continued use after changes means you accept them.
